Welcoming a new arrival but unsure of what life with a newborn will be like? Nurturing your baby through their first year? Or maybe you’re in the middle of terrible twos / threenagers / fearsome fours and want to understand your toddler better?
CalmFamily Jersey is here to help. We offer workshops for all stages of parenting from pregnancy to 4 years of age, that consider lots of different aspects of raising your child – like crying, sleep, weaning, behaviour, eating, and play.
CalmFamily are fundamentally different from other ‘parenting experts’ . We look at your child’s brain development and how this influences their behaviour and relationships. We educate and inform you about what is normal for your child, so that you have a deeper understanding of why they are behaving the way they do. Our approaches are evidence-based and are guaranteed to cause no distress to you or your child.
At CalmFamily, you are the expert in your own child. We won’t tell you what to do and we won’t give you magic solutions – what we’ll do is work with you and support you to build your own solutions, using our unique parenting frameworks.
Workshops available:
- Antenatal calming (suitable at any point in pregnancy)
- Learn what life with a newborn will be like, find out about crying, and learn calming tips and techniques.
- Fourth trimester (suitable from newborn up to 16 weeks of age)
- Learn about bonding with and calming your newborn, find out about crying and communication, and learn calming techniques.
- Weaning (suitable for parents of babies approaching weaning age)
- Learn about a baby-led approach to weaning, including how to tell when your child is ready for solid food (it’s not what you may think), and the practicalities of weaning in a baby-led way.
- Calming (suitable for parents of babies aged 16 weeks – 1 year)
- Learn about why your baby behaves the way they do, and find out about calming tips and techniques.
- Baby sleep (suitable for parents of babies aged 16 weeks – 1 year)
- Learn about what is normal in terms of babies’ sleep, and find out tips that can help you all to get a little more.
- Behaviour (suitable for parents of 1 – 4 year olds)
- Learn about how your child’s brain development influences their behaviour, and find out about gentle and respectful tips that can help.
- Toddler sleep (suitable for parents of 1 – 4 year olds)
- Learn about what is normal in terms of childrens’ sleep, and find out tips that can help you all to get a little more.
- Eating (suitable for parents of 1 – 4 year olds)
- Learn about what is normal in terms of childrens’ eating (or not), and find out tips on approaching eating in a respectful way.

When you come along to a CalmFamily Jersey class, you are being led by one of the most qualified consultants in the global company, CalmFamily CIC.
Sarah is a mum of three who has been running local classes for over 4 years. She became a co-director of CalmFamily CIC in 2015. In 2017, CalmFamily courses and workshops were expanded and updated, with the addition of new classes. Sarah is the author of both the weaning and eating workshops and a co-author of the other classes, and delivers training to new consultants who join CalmFamily. She is also a qualified Slingababy babywearing peer supporter as well as a soon-to-be qualified breastfeeding peer supporter.
