PILATES
Our Pilates classes focus on developing strength through the core of the body (back, shoulders, abdomen and hips). This provides a foundation to continue working and exercising the rest of the body. The concentration is not only on strength but also on flexibility and coordination. As Pilates both strengthens and aids flexibility, it can also be used to help people with poor mobility, muscular pain and injury rehabilitation. Our Instructors teach Pilates for beginners, intermediates and more advanced students.
Thursdays @ 5:30 – 6:30pm
YOGA
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa classes are infused with strength and precision, and are intended to move you smoothly and continuously between poses, creating strong, fluid movements in your body. Vinyasa flow is a dynamic, flowing type of yoga that links breathing with movement. Most classes start with a centring warm-up practice, followed by a variety of flowing standing poses, balancing poses, a seated stretch section and finally a closing relaxation session. These classes are often described as a strong practice that allows students to face challenges with support and guidance, inspiring them to move forward fearlessly and more consciously. Wednesday classes are described as ‘challenging but relaxing’ Vinyasa Flow class and always aim to create an energising Vinyasa Flow class for the Saturday morning practice to start the weekend off full of energy.
Wednesdays @ 6 – 7.15 p.m
Saturdays @ 10 – 11.15 a.m
Yin Yoga
Whilst most forms of yoga offered in classes are generally dynamic, active practices concentrating on muscular (“yang”) tissues, Yin Yoga offers a complementary approach, allowing practitioners to focus on the fascial (“yin”) tissues of the body (that is, the band of connective tissue fibres which envelope, separate or bind muscles), including tendons, ligaments, bones and joints. While initially this style of yoga can seem quite passive, or soft, Yin practice can be challenging as poses are held as deep as is comfortable, and for a long time. Yin Yoga is suitable for almost all levels of students, and is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize internal heat, and the lengthening and contracting of our muscles.
Tuesdays @ 6.45 – 8 p.m
